Portrait Frame Card with the Peaceful Poppies Bundle

Hello Kre8tors and welcome back! Today I’m sharing a birthday card for my Mother-in-law. My husband made (yes, he made this himself!!! You can see it in my YouTube video below!) her a checkbook wallet and I wanted to wrap it up with tissue paper and some of our yummy, bright, Daffodil Delight Ruched Ribbon. The color was so cheerful, as I was tying the bow I thought to myself, I need to use this on a matching card. So I did!

I started with just a glimpse of an idea in my head, knowing I wanted to use this beautiful ribbon to match the wrapping on her gift. And from that blossomed this fun, Portrait/Frame card using the Peaceful Poppies Suite Bundle products. I used several items from the suite bundle. Some of my favorites include the sequins and elements.

I’m calling this a Portrait or Frame Card because it really looks like a work of art that has been framed and hung on a wall! The top card mat is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals, which makes the Daffodil Delight background have a ‘sunken’ effect. And with the watercoloring technique I used to paint the Peaceful Poppies Elements, it really looks like a work of art! I love how bright these colors turned out!

I used the coordinating Peaceful Moments stamp set to stamp the sentiment Happy Birthday. I used the Painted Labels Dies to cut out the sentiment, but I ran it through the die cutting machine twice to get a smaller die cut. Check out my YouTube video to see how I did this. I then took my Basic Black Dark Stampin’ Blend Marker to color the border to make the sentiment stand out a little more.

And of course I wanted to stamp on the inside, so I used this sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set. I love how this set has coordinating sentiments so you can feature one on the outside and inside.

I really love how happy and cheerful this card turned out! The yellow just makes me smile, and I hope it made my mother-in-law, and you, smile too!

April 2020 Kre8tors Blog Hop Spring

Welcome Kre8tors! So excited to have you here for the Kre8tors Blog Hop! Be sure to use that Next button below to hop along to the next amazing blog post for some more spring inspiration! My project today is actually the second part to making this beautiful Tri-Fold Pocket Card! If you haven’t seen the first part yet, be sure to visit the previous post to check it out! Then come back here to find out how to add the bookmarks to the inside and how I decorated mine.

To decorate my bookmarks, I used the same colors that I used when I colored in the designer series paper. I stamped a few of the hearts from the Meant to be Bundle as well as the floral border at the top and bottom of the bookmark. I used some of the Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon at the top where I punched the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.

On scrap Whisper White card stock, I stamped a few of the larger hearts and then colored those in as well. Some of the striped hearts made great accompaniments to the larger hearts on each of the pockets. One of the things I love so much about this tri-fold pocket card is that each family member can write a sentiment on the bookmarks and really make them their own.

I colored in the hearts using the same colors I used on the DSP. I didn’t bother with shading or blending the colors since the areas I colored in were so tiny. I love that we can use the Stampin’ Blends to blend and to color images. The colors are so vibrant! It’s hard to stop once you start.

I can’t wait to sit down with my family and have each of us write a little sentiment on these bookmarks. I’m hoping that we will all share a fond memory of the person and be able to recall all the good times we’ve had together, with wishes for more good times to come very soon.

Be sure to check out my video tutorial on Part 1 to see how the Tri-Fold Pocket Card came together, and check out my video tutorial for Part 2 below to see how I decorated the inside!

April ISS Blog Hop – Anything Goes!

Hello Kre8tors and welcome to another Blog Hop! We are hopping with the Ink. Stamp. Share. Blog Hop today! Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the post and click that Next button when you’re done here to hop along to the next amazing project!

Today’s project features a fun-fold technique called the Tri-Fold Pocket Card. I needed to make a birthday gift for someone special and wanted to make it interactive and have several people write sentiments inside. I saw this project on Pinterest and wanted to give it a try! This is just Part 1 of the Tri-Fold Card, how to make the base. Part 2 will show you what I put on the inside! You can see that here.

I started with a sheet of 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper. The paper I used was part of this year’s Sale-A-Bration and is no longer for sale, however you can choose from a huge variety of 12 x 12 DSP in the Stampin’ Up! Catalogs. You’ll learn the technique for making this card, and then use what you have on hand or ask your demonstrator to recommend some coordinating products to make this project.

I used the entire piece of DSP, so there was no waste! I love projects like this! Then I used some scraps of Whisper White for the images on the front and the inserts in each pocket. I colored in this DSP with my Stampin’ Blends and love how it turned out. I’ve also made my own DSP before by stamping and coloring on a piece of 12 x 12 Whisper White cardstock. That’s always a great staple to have on hand for a project like this!

Here’s the template for the Tri-Fold Pocket card base. You’re going to score the 12″ x 12″ cardstock all the way at the 6″ mark. Rotate the card stock 45 degrees, and then score all the way on the 3″ line. Then with both the 6″ and 9″ lines, you are going to score from the halfway 6″ mark down. Cut away the X in one large strip and do not discard, because you are going to use that piece! Check out my video tutorial below to find out where!

On the front I used a piece of our Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon to keep the card tied closed so it’s like a little present when the recipient opens it. I hope they enjoy unwrapping a ‘gift’ from our family, even though we can’t give it to them in person!

I used the Meant To Be bundle along with the A Wish For Everything stamp set for the front of this card. Hearts aren’t just for Valentine’s Day! I absolutely love the font combination of the “Happy Birthday” as well. Just add a few champagne rhinestones and boom! You have a lovely, fun-fold card!

April ICS Blog Hop – It’s a Girl Thing

Hello Kre8tors and welcome to another Blog Hop! We are hopping with the Inspire, Create, & Share Blog Hop today and this month’s theme is Monochromatic Girl! Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the post and click that Next button when you’re done here to hop along to the next amazing project!

I decided to use the Tea Together stamp set with the coordinating Tea Time dies for this card. I knew I wanted to make it as girl-y as possible! I chose to do a Mother’s Day card and use Flirty Flamingo as my color. We were also allowed to use White, Black, or Vanilla.

I knew I wanted to use shading to get different gradients of this color, so I pulled out my Stampin’ Blend markers in Flirty Flamingo. I used the light pen to color in the images and the dark pen to shade in the darker areas. I really like how the images turned out. For more texture, I threw in the Lace 3D Embossing Folder.

I used my Stampin’ Blends to create an ombre effect on some vellum. I also heat embossed my sentiment using Versamark, the Flirty Flamingo Classic Stampin’ Pad, and Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I love this technique because you can emboss in any of our colors! I also threw in some polka dot mesh ribbon and some pearls for more girly vibes.

Check out my video tutorial below, and keep scrolling to hop to the next project!

A Wish for Everything Square Card

Hello Kre8tors and welcome back! I’m so excited to share a beautiful card with you today. This card features the Flowering Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper from the second release Sale-A-Bration items. It’s FREE with a $50 purchase. I paired it with the A Wish For Everything Bundle and love how they work together!

I wanted to color in these beautiful flowers, so I used my Stampin’ Blends in an array of colors to make these flowers really pop. I used a combination of light and dark blends to create shadowing effects on the roses and leaves.

This card is not a standard size. Because I was delivering this to someone very special in person, I wanted to make a card size that I wouldn’t typically make since I didn’t have to mail it! It’s fun to give cards in person and be able to have full creative license and not have to stick to rigid guidelines for sending in the mail without extra postage.

I used the beautiful Flowering Foils Specialty DSP and colored in the roses with a variety of Stampin’ Blends markers. It was so much fun to color in the paper and it was very relaxing, too. It’s nice to find something relaxing to do to take my mind off things.

I fussy cut around the edges of the flowers and then glued this piece to the top of my card base. I added a few Champagne Rhinestones around the cluster of flowers for some bling. I used my Stampin’ Blend markers to color in an ombre background, and used that to cut out the word happy with the Word Wishes dies. Then I used the coordinating stamp ‘wishes’ from the A Word For Everything stamp set and heat embossed it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

This card went to a very special family and I’m so glad I could brighten their day with a handmade card. I know a lot of people that could use a little smile right now, so I’ll be making a lot of cards, I’m sure!
