ICS May 2020 Blog Hop It’s a Guy Thing

Hello Kre8tors and welcome to A Guy Thing in Black and White! Today I’m featuring the Mountain Air Bundle to create a fun card using what I’m calling the “Tuck Technique”. Head to my YouTube channel for a video tutorial, sit back, relax, and enjoy!

We are hopping with the Inspire, Create, & Share Blog Hop today! Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the post and click that Next button when you’re done here to hop along to the next amazing project!

We were challenged with creating a black and white card that was masculine. I chose to use the Mountain Air Bundle. It’s really the most masculine set I have, along with maybe Rooted in Nature. I haven’t played with this bundle much, and really wanted to ink it up!

I wasn’t quite sure how to start, though I knew I wanted to use black as my card base. I decided white embossing would look great on the black background, and some black stamped images on white cardstock would offer a nice contrast. So, I started inking and stamping, and finally landed with these images.

I was at a loss for how to layer the mountains to make them look half way decent with what I had to work with. So I decided to do the “tuck technique” where I partially cut out the tree line with the coordinating die cut, and then I ‘tucked’ the mountains behind the trees.

I added some ‘stars’ to the night sky by using my Whisper White Craft Ink Refill, and dotted it all over. I think it gave this card that little extra boost. I forgot to get out my Wink of Stella Glitter Brush! That would have really stepped this card up a notch!

I cut two card mats for the inside of the card. This allows for LOTS of space to write, as well as covers up the tucked mountains on the top flap of the card. I thought about stamping the inside, but wasn’t exactly sure what I wanted to write on this for the recipient, so I left it blank until it’s filled out.

I hope you enjoyed my project today! If you did, please watch my video tutorial on YouTube, and subscribe to my channel while you’re there. It really helps me out and allows me to keep making videos for you to enjoy.

Portrait Frame Card with the Peaceful Poppies Bundle

Hello Kre8tors and welcome back! Today I’m sharing a birthday card for my Mother-in-law. My husband made (yes, he made this himself!!! You can see it in my YouTube video below!) her a checkbook wallet and I wanted to wrap it up with tissue paper and some of our yummy, bright, Daffodil Delight Ruched Ribbon. The color was so cheerful, as I was tying the bow I thought to myself, I need to use this on a matching card. So I did!

I started with just a glimpse of an idea in my head, knowing I wanted to use this beautiful ribbon to match the wrapping on her gift. And from that blossomed this fun, Portrait/Frame card using the Peaceful Poppies Suite Bundle products. I used several items from the suite bundle. Some of my favorites include the sequins and elements.

I’m calling this a Portrait or Frame Card because it really looks like a work of art that has been framed and hung on a wall! The top card mat is popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals, which makes the Daffodil Delight background have a ‘sunken’ effect. And with the watercoloring technique I used to paint the Peaceful Poppies Elements, it really looks like a work of art! I love how bright these colors turned out!

I used the coordinating Peaceful Moments stamp set to stamp the sentiment Happy Birthday. I used the Painted Labels Dies to cut out the sentiment, but I ran it through the die cutting machine twice to get a smaller die cut. Check out my YouTube video to see how I did this. I then took my Basic Black Dark Stampin’ Blend Marker to color the border to make the sentiment stand out a little more.

And of course I wanted to stamp on the inside, so I used this sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set. I love how this set has coordinating sentiments so you can feature one on the outside and inside.

I really love how happy and cheerful this card turned out! The yellow just makes me smile, and I hope it made my mother-in-law, and you, smile too!

Peaceful Poppies Thank You Cards

Hello Kre8tors! Thank you cards are always needed. Someone gives you a gift, someone does you a kindness, or maybe you want to give them as a gift to someone else who would appreciate the work and love you put into your kre8tions. I hope you find these thank you cards inspiring and give them a try!

The Peaceful Poppies Suite Bundle makes this card super simple. I used a standard Whisper White card base, and then stamped the splatter images from the Painted Poppies stamp set. I stamped the Thank You sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set and cut it out on my die cutting machine using the coordinating Painted Labels Dies.

The poppy accent is from the Peaceful Poppies Elements. So easy to just pop it out of the pre-cut thick card stock sheet and adhere it with a glue dot. There’s also vellum and watercolor pieces with the elements that can really elevate your card game.

Probably one of my favorite items in the Suite Bundle would have to be the Peaceful Poppies Sequins. There are a variety of shapes and colors, and they add the perfect bling to the project. I always like to add them in batches of 3 or 5, and adhere them using some Liquid Glue along with the Take Your Pick tool. It’s super helpful when trying to pick up those tiny sequins!

The black swirl accent in the background is so much fun and reminds me so much of the Swirly Bird set. It adds just the right background element on this card. I stamped the sentiment using StazOn ink in Jet Black. I love how crisp and clean this card design looks.

I really hope you enjoyed this card design. I would love to see you case it! Just tag me on social media. You can find me just about everywhere with @mkre8tions

Mountain Air Bundle Birthday Sunset

Hello Kre8tors! Thanks so much for coming back! And if you’re new here, welcome! I’m glad you found your way to my blog. Today I’m sharing a birthday card I made for my brother using the Mountain Air Bundle.

I knew as soon as I saw this card I was going to make it for my brother’s birthday. I thought a sunset would look so beautiful behind those mountains! I cut them out from Basic Black card stock to give the illusion of a silhouette.

I cut four trees from Basic Black card stock as well, two of the detailed trees and two of the smaller solid trees. I thought those could represent the four members of his family. I added the Happy Birthday sentiment using the Label Me Bold stamp set and heat embossed it with White Stampin’ Powder on a scrap of black cardstock. This really made it stand out nicely!

I used the masking technique for the sun to get it bright white in the background. I love this technique, and using a sticky note makes it super easy!

Be sure you take a look at my video tutorial to see how this card came together, and the creative process of me struggling to find just the right placement for all these pieces!

Painted Poppies DSP Striped Cards

Hello Kre8tors! I’m so excited to share with you TWO cards using the Peaceful Poppies Suite of products! This suite is my FAVORITE from the new 2020 Mini Catalog. It’s packed full of amazing goodies! Have you purchased yours yet? I hope you do, because I don’t want you to miss out!

This first card was inspired by a post from Kimberly Wiener on Pinterest. I loved how hers looked and knew this stamp set would be perfect to CASE her card! I stamped my own DSP and colored them in by hand. This took a long time, but I think it was worth it in the end!

The star of the show on this card are the beautiful poppy stamps from the Painted Poppies stamp set. I used some Stampin’ Blends to color them, and adore how they turned out! They are so vibrant!

I also accented this card with some of those adorable Peaceful Poppies Sequins. Did you know that some of the sequins are flower shaped? They’re too fun and would make amazing shaker cards!

I used the Thank You sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set. This font is beautiful on these cards. I love it when lots of products coordinate together, just like every product in the Peaceful Poppies Suite Bundle!

This is a BONUS card, and an alternative to the lengthy coloring session that is needed for Card #1. This card features some of the Peaceful Poppies DSP, so it goes together much quicker!

I also used one of the die cut pieces from the Peaceful Poppies Elements. They were perfect with the piece of DSP I chose to use, and you can even color over them with the Stampin’ Blends! I added a little bow using the Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon from this suite.

And of course, any poppies card wouldn’t be complete without those adorable flower shaped sequins that come in the Peaceful Poppies Sequins! I chose three different colors. What colors would you have used?

Again, the sentiment is from the Peaceful Moments Bundle. I just love how the two fonts on this sentiment compliment each other. This is going to make a lovely birthday card for someone special.
