April 2020 Stamper’s Showcase Mini Catalog Last Chance

Hello Kre8tors and welcome to another Blog Hop! We are hopping with the Stampers Showcase Blog Hop today! Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the post and click that Next button when you’re done here to hop along to the next amazing project!

In today’s hop we are featuring products from the retiring Mini Catalog. This catalog ends at the beginning of June, so there’s still a little time to get your favorite products before they retire or transition into the new Annual Catalog. Sadly, the Honey Bee Bundle is one that is not transferring.

I wanted to really showcase those little bees, so I used Basic Black, Whisper White, and Daffodil Delight to really make those bees pop! I also wanted to add a shadow effect behind the bees, so I used the bee dies to cut out the silhouettes in Basic Black and then popped the bees up with dimensionals. I also colored in the edges of the bee stamps with my Dark Basic Black Stampin’ Blend marker to really make them stand out against the white and yellow background.

I wanted to give the bee hive a different shape than a smooth dome, so I fussy cut the edges and gave them a more bumpy look. I heat embossed the sentiment from the Label Me Bold stamp set onto Basic Black Card Stock and punched it out using the Classic Label Punch. I love how this pops on the Daffodil Delight.

For the larger bee, I cut out a solid large bee from Daffodil Delight card stock and put it offset under the large stamped bee. This gives it a little different look than the smaller bees with the black shadow. I really do like how it turned out.

I think one of my most favorite things about this card is the ‘pollen’ in the background. I love how the stamp from the Label Me Bold set resembles bee pollen. I heat embossed it onto my Whisper White card mat using White Stampin’ Emboss Powder, and then I used my Aqua Painter to paint Daffodil Delight ink all over. This gives it an emboss resist effect. Alternatively, you could paint the background first, and then emboss over the top after it has dried completely.

Sadly my video cut out right at the end of filming, so I wasn’t able to film the entire inside, but I took the two detailed bee cut outs and sandwiched the solid bee cut out in between them. This gives a really fun dimension to the large bee and makes it stand out against the Daffodil Delight background.

I also took some of the left over honeycomb pieces and adhered them randomly in the corners of the inside card mat. I love how it turned out, and can’t wait to get it in the mail! I have a VERY special project and tutorial for you today. I was definitely inspired by the Coastal Crafter, Emma Goddard’s beautiful cards using the Flowering Foils Designer Series Paper, a FREE Sale-A-Bration item, from the second release, with a qualifying purchase. She is a member of the 2020 Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team. You can check out her beautiful work by visiting her website and following her on Instagram.

I decided to use her card as a baseline to create mine. The background has a very geometric characteristic, so I’m calling this technique the Geometric Cut technique. You can see how I go about it in my YouTube tutorial, which you can watch below or on my channel.

I started by using the Petal Pink Classic Stampin’ Pad to color in the Golden Honey Designer Series Paper using a variety of techniques ranging from sponging, daubing, watercoloring, and direct to paper. I love how each one of them turned out, and am excited to play around with more techniques soon.

After I had my DSP colored in, I cut all the pieces I needed from the Gold Foil and Basic Gray card stock. Then I used the Geometric Cut technique to cut each of the three main papers the exact same way so they would come back together like a puzzle piece when I swapped them around.

After building my background, I worked on stamping, embossing, die cutting, and adhering all the little pieces to the front of the card. I am in LOVE with the Honey Bee Bundle and thought it would be PERFECT for this rose gold style card. I’m going to use these as the Thank You cards I send to my customers this month!

I also added some Rose Gold Metallic Thread and Champagne Rhinestones for a little extra pizzazz! These additional elements have the perfect touch to finish off this WOW card, I am just so in love with it. I think it might have something to do with my love for anything and everything Rose Gold!
